Breakfast at 8am, a snack if you're around and dinner should be early, 4 or 5. Feeding dinner early will make it easier for them to relieve themselves before going to bed for the night. Hopefully minimizing the chances of accidents. I keep their bowls full and they walk away when full. Then I clean up. We always leave water accessible and I prefer to let puppies eat as much as they please until about a year and a half. They are growing babies and sometimes they need more nutrients. Depending on how fast they are growing, how active they were that day and depending on the weather. So, I don’t limit puppies as he is growing quickly. If you feed your puppy scraps while you are eating, you will be teaching to beg. I do not recommend it. If you want to feed your dog table scraps, check to make sure there is nothing in there to upset his tummy and make sure you take that amount of food into account for his daily food. Watch your dogs waist line. It should always be trim and fit. So, adjust food accordingly. Some do like getting vegetables and fruits for treats. They should not be fed an hour before or after exercise. And no food or drink 2 hours before bed. Last one to bed takes puppy out to his special place. When looking for dog food flip it over and make sure it has the statement
AAFCO STATEMENT: Meets nutritional standards of the AAFCO. If it does not have the AAFCO statement, you are wasting your money buying food that is simply malnourishing. All food labels on the back or front will state for themselves, that Such and such brand, meets the AAFCO standards, all will. You are looking for the ones that say both or have the AAFCO's Statement.
Even though we know the food companies are only half regulated, we have to set standards somewhere. You will be surprised at the high dollar food that does not meet standard.
Now, also, with that said, you can buy food that does not have the statement and it Could meet the standard and they haven't been evaluated yet but, you have to know how to read the label and what you are looking for. So, with all that said, until you educate yourself. Stick to the one with the statement.
